Halloween 2023

Come join us and get into the spirit of Halloween with some light hearted spooky décor and Halloween themed activities. Join Wizard Ben for some creepy crawly handling and encounters between 11.45am – 12.15pm where you can get up close and personal with a variety of the minibeasts that live here at the mini zoo.

At 12.45pm – 1.15pm Wizard Ben is back ready to show off and talk about some of his ghastly collection of items! A great chance to see what a snake’s shed skin looks and feels like, along with a variety of skulls, skeletons and other weird animal things to look, touch and learn about! 2 – 2.30pm sees some of our reptiles making an appearance for ‘Scales and Tales’ where Wizard Ben will again be giving visitors the chance to learn and get a closer look at some of the scaly residents at Wild Encounters!

Wizard Ben finishes off his day of activities with one of the more beautiful creatures of the night with a talk all about owls at 3pm where visitors will get a closer look at our resident Barn Owl Barney while they learn all about what makes him such a majestic yet fearsome killer of the dark!

In between the extra Halloween activities you’ll have plenty of time to wander and see the other Wild Encounter animals around the site, use the play area, and enjoy a hot chocolate or pumpkin spiced latte (the usual coffees, teas and foods also available).

From 11am-3.30pm our absolutely amazing face painter will be on site providing the absolute best face art around, or if you prefer, a temporary tattoo instead! No additional charge for face painting, included in general admission price!

Visitors in fancy dress welcome! We’ll be running a fancy dress competition throughout the weekend for a chance to win a €30 gift voucher for you and your family to use at the mini zoo so getting your dress up on is highly encouraged (winners will be chosen by our social media followers liking their faves!)

Just like last year we’ll have a few decorations up around the site for visitors to enjoy and get further into the spirit. Don’t worry though, we’re aiming for light hearted and full family fun so there won’t be anything majorly terrifying or extreme!
